The Bay T.H.
The Bay
Holding,
We are held.
Woven,
enfolded,
Contained by these mountains,
Hills,
And this water.
Ocean,
Oh so immense
Rolling out beyond
Our Gate.
The West Wind
Comes,
Brings rain and fog
And clears the way
For slanting, piercing sun
That transfixes our afternoons,
Our hearts, our hopes.

Waiting for the Snow- TH
Waiting
for the Snow
We
all…
Black
bears, squirrels,
The
dense gray ghosting forest
With
russet heart
Of
fallen leaves,
Even
the industrious Nuthatch,
Ever
upside down,
Master
of tree trunks,
Pause
in this still,
Even
slightly warm
Moment,
air,
Pause:
Feeling,
seeking
The
softest fall of all…
Waiting
for the snow.
Only
the streams and brooks
Continue,
Are
irrepressible.
Our
mountains are full of water
And
it must spring forth.
So
the shimmering sound
Of
water over rocks,
Is
background
To
winter stillness.
This
is
Our
peace.

Owling for Lisa 11/16/13
When the poems were coming, they were easy. Lisa was easy to poem to.- T.H.
Owlwing
(for Lisa Devlin, 11/16/13)
on owlwing you fly,
away, away
so softly
that no mouse, no vole,
no rabbit with twitching ears
can hear.
Powerful reach of bone and feathers,
so subtle and precise,
the joining of desire and physics.
You are off now,
into the winter woods,
flying with grace
away, away.

Pictures of Lisa Working
When Lisa was in the hospital she looked from Jennifer to myself and then said "you look the same".
I was thinking this picture was Jennifer, then I thought maybe Teresa, then i zoomed in and wondered if it was me. I think the legs are too long to me. Is it you Jennifer?

For Lisa - from Ted Heimerdinger
"When the poems were coming, they were easy. Lisa was easy to poem to."- TH
For Lisa
(9/14/11)
Tonight I remember all the things
I've done and not done today.
I washed two of my Mt. Olive Jumbo Pickle jars,
So big they could be houses for toads,
Snakes and lizards…
I use them for compost.
It can take me months to empty the jar,
To eat the pickles,
But I can’t resist buying…
And it’s a good deal on pickles.
I put up the two sliding screens to the balcony.
Lots of WD-40 for the wheels.
Now I can let the cats out there at night
Where they can be hypnotized by the bats;
Just hope Pantha doesn’t do a swan dive
Down to the Black-eyed Susans.
Zippy is much too fat and way too sedate.
I didn’t give blood, missed a precinct meeting,
Didn’t take my weekly hike.
My parsley is going off,
And the half bushel of peaches
In the fridge, needs to be used.
Then I thought of you working so hard
To spray paint the fiberglass columns…
Was it for Aida or Thais?
You were learning how
To spray with a Binks Air Gun
And you did,
With care and love and passion.
